Quarter Moon Imports is a locally owned store in Tallahassee, FL since 1989. With a passion for fair trade, handmade, and eco-friendly products, we strive to bring a unique offering of jewelry, clothing, gifts, and home decor to our community, and now online!

The brick-and-mortar Quarter Moon is the original location of the store since its opening in 1989. The product offerings in the store change all the time as we find new and interesting products to bring in. While both the store location and the online site are operated with this goal in mind, we do offer some different products for each “location” of the store. There are in-store exclusives that cannot be found online, just as there are online exclusives that cannot be found in store.

Sustainability FAQ

“Fair Trade” is a certification applied by the Fair Trade Federation to companies which follow set guidelines to make sure their products are being produced by artisans making a fair and living wage. There are many standards that go into this certification including wages, fair hours, health standards, no child labor, and community giveback initiatives. If an item is designated as “assorted” on our website, that means that it is a handmade item, usually from recycled materials. Because of the nature of its crafting, we cannot guarantee that the item you are receiving will be the exact one pictured. Not to worry, this doesn’t mean that you will receive a completely different item than what you ordered! This simply means there will be slight variances in the fabric, color, or painting of the item. For instance, most of our Guatemalan bags are made from vintage traditional Guatemalan fabrics. Because the fabrics are not industrially made for the bags, each embroidered design and coloring will be unique to each bag, but the style, size, and shape of the bag will be consistent with the picture. We try our best to give our customers the basic color way options that we have in stock to make sure you are getting the product that you want!

Most of the offerings on our website are handcrafted by artisans and many are made of recycled materials. Because of the nature of using recycled materials and hand-made pieces, some products may vary in color, embroidery design, painting style, etc. Each item will be of consistent overall design with the product pictured (i.e. a bag will have the same shape, size, pockets, and construction, but may have different embroidery than the pictured product). We stay as true to color options as possible to ensure our customers are getting the products they really want.

Not every product carried on our website or in store is registered with the Fair Trade Federation. We recognize that not every company is financially able to go through the rigorous process the Federation lays out for its participants nor are they the only standard for world-friendly retail. While most the companies we partner with are registered Fair Trade, we do also partner with companies which have a history of good works. They may donate a percentage of profits to charities, have a charity of their own, manufacture within the US, or have eco-friendly manufacturing standards. Every company that we partner with has met a standard we set for doing good works, treating their artisans with respect, responsibly manufacturing, and/or using eco-friendly methods or materials. 

Order and Shipping FAQ

You will have shipping options presented to you at checkout. Usually our most inexpensive and convenient shipping method is via USPS. Shipping is automated at checkout, so in-store pickup is NOT an option. All website sales must be shipped, whether a customer is in Tallahassee, FL or not.

We do our best to process orders quickly! Every product that we have to offer on the website is already in stock. (No waiting on backorders for you!) However, our online office is not connected to the store, so we cannot be in office every day of the week. Website orders are processed on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings. If you place an order Friday evening, it will not go out in the mail until Monday morning. Thanks for understanding that we cannot process orders on a 24/7 clock.

Email or call us! We’re very responsive. We’d be happy to edit your order for you before its been processed. However, after an order has been processed and shipped, it is already out of our hands. Please see our return policy for more details on returns.

 

Yes! You have 14 days within receipt of the item to return it. We can refund you when we receive the returned item. We will also refund the initial shipping paid for THAT item, but please understand that we cannot pay for the return shipping unless the mistake was on us.
